Class Policies:
7-day advance registration is  required.  We reserved the right to cancel a class if fewer than 3
students have registered prior to the 7-day advance registration date. Please plan to arrive 15
minutes before your first day of class to pick up any additional class supplies and to pay for
your class.

We know that life sometimes interferes with your plans.  In the event that your plans change,
kindly give us 7 days notice to transfer you to another class or issue a store credit.  Refunds
will only be issued if we must cancel a class.

Please do not wear strong perfumes or other scents to class so that we have a safe breathing
environment for all our students.
We offer classes at all levels of knitting, crocheting, spinning, and
needle felting, and a variety of other needle arts.  Here is a synopsis
of our class levels:

Basics Series
Learn the essentials or brush up your skills with this series of
classes.

Signature Series
This series of classes takes your knitting above & beyond the
basics.  Learn versatile skills while creating stylish items.

Private Lessons
We're always glad to help with a quick question here and there, but
we ask that if you need more than 15 minutes of attention,  please
schedule a private lesson.
  Private lessons are  a flexible way to
learn new skills and get intensive  help with your knitting, crochet,
spinning, or needle felting that  is geared to your specific needs.  
We prefer to schedule them during the week, but limited weekend
slots are available.  
Lessons are $40 per hour, minimum 30
minutes.  Please give us at least 7 days notice to schedule
private lessons.
CLASSES
Basics Series
August through September 2008
Beginning Knitting
Date(s): Thursdays, August 21-September 4, 2008
Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Cost: $75
This class is designed to teach basic knitting skills.
 Minimum skills covered will be casting on, binding
off, knit stitch, and purl stitch.  The class will also
cover decoding yarn labels.   Class fee does not
include materials.

Materials list includes:
  • 1 set size US 8 (5mm) straight or circular
    needles
  • 1 ball worsted weight (4.5-5 sts/1 in) yarn
  • Tapestry Needle
Drop Spinning Basics
Date(s): Saturdays, August 16-23, 2008
Time: 1-2:30 p.m.
Cost: $50
This class is designed to teach basic drop
spinning skills using a drop spindle and processed
fiber.  Class will begin with park and draft method
and progress to active drafting.  Discussion of
various types of fibers will be included.  Class fee
includes fiber samples, but does not include
spindle or primary spinning materials.

  • 2-4 oz fiber
Double Point Needle (DPN) Basics
Date(s): Saturday, September 6, 2008
Time: 3-4:30 p.m.
Cost: $40
This class is designed to teach basic use of
double point needles (dpn) to prepare knitter for
more advanced classes such as knitting socks on
dpns.  Cast-on, joining into the round, ribbing and
stockinette on dpns will be covered.  Class fee
does not include materials.

  • 1 set size US 6 (4mm) double point needles
  • 1 ball worsted weight (4.5-5 sts/1 in) yarn
  • Stitch markers
Your First Sweater
Date(s): Thursday, September 11-October 2, 2008
Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Cost: $75
This class is the second in the Beginning Knitting
Series. In this class the student will learn
increasing, decreasing, ribbing, picking up
stitches, pattern reading, and basic seaming.  
Beginning Knitting or relevant experience is
required for this class.

Materials list includes:
  • 1 set size US 6 (4mm) double point needles
  • 1 set size US 6 (4mm) straight or circular
    needles
  • 1 set size US 8 (5mm) straight or circular
    needles
  • 1 skein, 220 yards approx., worsted weight

Signature Series
August through September 2008
Dyeing Workshop
Date(s): Saturday, September 6, 2008
Time: 10 a.m. - 12 noon
Cost: $25
This dyeing workshop provides a space with
minimal instruction to dye yarn.  Workshop fee
includes dyes and equipment, but does not
include yarn for dyeing.  Please note that this
workshop starts 2 hours prior to store opening
time.

Materials list includes:
  • Yarn to dye
  • Apron or old t-shirt to protect clothing
Knitting 9-1-1
Date(s): Thursday, September 11, 2008
Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Cost: $40
Have you ever dropped a stitch only to rip out your
whole project?  Have you knitted stitches when you
meant to purl?  Despair no more!  This class will
teach you have to catch those runaway stitches,
repair incorrect stitches, and other skills essential
to recovering your knitting.  Class fee does not
include materials.

Materials list includes:
  • Swatch #1: See Homework List below
  • Swatch #2: See Homework List below
  • Light colored, smooth yarn, such as
    Cascade 220, used to produce swatches
    listed below.
  • Knitting Needles in size appropriate for use
    with yarn chosen.
  • Knitting Needles in size two sizes smaller
    than above.
  • Crochet hook.
  • Tapestry Needle.
  • Waste Yarn in color that contrasts with
    swatch yarn.

Homework list:
  • Swatch #1: Cast on 20 stitches.  Knit
    Stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) until
    piece measures 4 inches, ending with purl
    row.  Place stitches on holder.
  • Swatch #2: Cast on 20 stitches.  Knit garter
    stitch (knit every row) until piece measures 2
    inches.  Place stitches on holder.
Sock Basics
Date(s): Saturday, September 13, 2008
Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Cost: $60
Sock Basics is designed to teach basic sock
architecture by knitting a baby sock from the top
down, using heel flap construction.  Students
should be able to complete the entire socklette
during class time.  This class uses double point
needles.  Double Point Basics or relevant
experience is required for this class.  Class fee
does not include materials.  Please note that this
class starts 2 hours prior to store opening time.

Project: Bias Scarf
Date(s): Wednesday, September 17, 2008
Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Cost: $40
In this class students will knit a miniature version
of the Purlescence Yarns Bias Scarf pattern.  
Students should have a basic understanding of
casting on, binding off, knitting, purling,
increasing and decreasing.  Yarn overs will be
covered, as will SKP decreases and basic chart
reading.  Pattern will be provided; materials not
included in class fee.

  • 1 set size US 9 (5.5mm) straight or circular
    needles
  • Minimum 50gm worsted weight (4.5-5
    sts/1 in) or Aran weight (3.75-4 sts/1 in)
    yarn (Suggested: Lorna's Laces Lion and

Project: February Lady Sweater
Date(s): Saturdays, September 20-27, 2008
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Cost: $50
In this class students will work through the
February Lady Sweater.  Class fee does not
include materials or pattern printout.  Please print
out pattern prior to class.  In order to complete
project, students must complete homework
between classes.

Mitered Squares
